Default Self-employed?

You can claim tax relief on the GTC subscription, but not your union fees I'm afraid!

I just rang the Self-Assessment Helpline to check and got a catagoric no.. they wouldn't even see it as an insurance policy.

You can't claim on motor expenses to get to school and back either... cr*p isn't it?! :

Would you like me to check your covering letter, CV, supporting statement or application form?

Hmm, I'm not so sure about that! If the journey is not a regular one and you are self-employed I think you can claim! They are never going to help you, are they?
