. This is for next year.

I recently joined a teaching agency which is under contract to the LEA. When I had my CRB check done the LEA paid for it an now I am able to teach in any LEA schools. I am part of the LEA supply service. Should the LEA also pay my GTC subscription?

The LEA doesn't pay any GTC subscriptions as far as i'm aware - we pay it - but when you are under contract you get the £33 pounds in your pay packet to pay it. So, don't really know how it works, but I know it isn't like CRB checks in the LEA pays for them when you are employed by them.
The GTC subscription is one of those things that we have to pay for to be a teacher, can't be one without it, but don't always get the money for it. I think it's a bit of a strange organisation, but it does have a purpose.

ness... as Ski said, if you're full-time, you get the £33 in your pay packet, but it's taxed, but then you can claim the tax back (obviously relying on people being too busy to do this!) but if you're supply, you have to pay it out of your own pocket but can claim it against tax too.. D'oh!

ing about the GTCW...

I let them know that I wasn't living in Wales anymore and that I wasn't teaching either and... yes... they sent me a GTC for Wales form to my house in Lancashire!!!!

I'll have to try that one again I think, but which part of I don't live in Wales and I'm no longer teaching do you think was difficult for them to understand?

I left teaching 2 years ago and wrote to the GTC to let them know. At Christmas I got a letter from them saying that I owed them £66 pounds and that if I didnt pay it I wouldnt be allowed to teach...
