No good ideas, but have been thinking about it a lot this holiday.

I really like teaching but am in such a grim school and am so fed up with things like pressure to not exclude children that should be permanently excluded, the renewed frameworks for literacy and maths and all the other strategies the government dream up to make the job even more difficult that I am really seriously thinking about jumping ship.

Have eaten lots of chocolate and watched lots of television this holiday!

Think I might apply to BA and be an air hostess and request flights to the Caribbean! That might cheer me up!

'Lush' as the kids would say! How nice would that be! I know some people say it's not as glam as it looks, but OH's cousin is a pilot for BA, and says yes, it is as glam as it looks!!

The bit about not excluding kids has really affected me this term... who dreamt that one up?!

Also know a pilot who says it is not as glamorous as everyone thinks but....

I can think of lots of advantages and a week layover in Antigua takes some beating!!!

I've thought about leaving supply teaching too at times. I love the job when it's good, & I think I'm mad staying in it when it's bad, or when there isn't enough work to pay the bills. To misquote Dickens, this is the best of jobs, this is the worst of jobs!!

I'm interested to know what other jobs teachers & supply teachers go into after teaching, & what jobs lend themselves to the skills we supply teachers have?

One job I had which this helped, was writing up and doing analysis of a facilitator's meeting notes... He'd come into the office after a meeting with some Gvt dept. or the like, and give me all his notes, all the flip chart pages, and any other scribblings... I had to organise it all, write it up, and then do a report from it which he would use as a base to give his feedback report/action plan thingy from... Easy really for a supply teacher, after spending years trying to read kids' handwriting and decifering other people's planning!!! Also was random times that he needed me, at the drop of a hat a lot, and everything needed to be done that day.
