e permanent on a variable hours contract in december. The school is going to be closing summer 2008 and therefore the budget is very tight so they were wanting to limit my hours from september to 0.2. I've told them I would rather look for a new job or do supply however, are they obliged to pay me for the summer hols? Or if i get a new permanent job are they meant to pay for the summer hols? Never been in this position so don't know.

Yes... you should be fine. If you've a perm. contract, and resign this coming half term to leave end of July, they will be paying you 'til the end of August. That's if you elected to be paid through the hols. Whatever, you'll be paid the correct amount. Being paid through the hols just means that you're paid less than a full day rate through the term, the pay

centre spreads it out for you so that you don't have to budget. You will therefore be receiving pay 'til end August which is money earned in this year.

99% sure of that! I've resigned to leave end of July twice, and had my last pay packet in September anyway (month behind all the time!) It doesn't matter under what circumstances you're leaving, whether you've a new job or not. If you have a new job to start this September, the contract with your new school will probably start 1st September, and so will your pay.

Thanks Nutty, hopefully thats the way it is here and that will be good, was starting to panic that I'd be going another summer with no money. Will ask at school just to check when I go back.
