Default how far behind are the BBC

ok, tell me if I understood the news item wrong, (nutty, i'm sure it's online, just don't know my way about it like you!)
just been listening to the BBC 6 oclock news and they did an item about hwo in Mexico they are using these wonderful new digital large screens, that have all the info and resources for the teachers to use to teach the whole curriculum, how the children can get involved and come up and touch the screen, how all the info is right at their fingertips, how other countries around the whole incl. US are expressing an interest in the amazing new technology.

Sorry am I missing something - interactive whiteboard in the UK? Smartboards, promethean? Been using them for 5years at least? New resources coming on line all the time, children know how to use them better than the teachers? Or have I been teaching in an alternate universe and actually the rest of you don't have a clue what i'm tal

saying how there could b e too much technology in the classrooms already!

Are IWBs digital? I'm not sure, that may be the difference. I tend to agree with the linked report here that they are used as glorified OHPs and not used to their full potential, I don't think they're worth the cost to most teachers, but they're getting used to them I guess.. in 10 years' time they'll be used properly! 9/10 I'm sure just use the Notepad on there as a whiteboard that you can save for the next day... I'm sure there are very few that have done the handwriting recognition thing where it can convert your scrawl to type, so the kids can read it better!

Has anyone tried Microsoft OneNote? I downloaded a trial version for 60 days, it's a fantastic tool, and though it'd take some getting used to, I'd give it a good go, and it'd probably end up being the only thing I used in school!
