Can you get me a job in one?
Do you disagree with any of them?
I've worked in one mentioned 3 times... it's my very favourite school of all time. I was an SNA there for a year, and still keep in touch with a To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. of the teachers there... I'm so proud of them! It's a through primary, 1-form entry, in a deprived area, over 75% free school meals.

nope don't know any, and only one is in sussex! What does that tell you about what is supposed to be one of the richest areas of the country? That they can't / don't provide the best education! (saying that though we do also have 2 of the most deprived areas in the country, but the LEA's haven't worked out that!
THere are school's around here that have got outstanding / grade 1 (is it that way round?!) with OFSTED, I applied to a coupel of them, but surprise surprise, over 100 applications!

There was only 1 best school from Norfolk on the list, and none in Manchester - oh dear!
What was it like being in one Nutty? For those of us who never have and may never!

I was there when OFSTED was a t To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. le in the PM's eye... but everyone knew it was lovely already.
It wasn't high pressure or anything, the teachers taught, loved their job, they got great, professional support from the HT and DHT, and everyone felt included and valued - the HT was no more a man than the caretaker, if you know what I mean (though I believe this is changing as he approaches retirement and becomes a grumpy old man!) It's a through primary, and the upper school are sooooo mature and responsible with helping with the lower school. Without being icky/slushy, it was a joy to be there, for everyone. The kids, as I said, were not from the wealthiest of backgrounds, and to add to it, for a lot, school meant sanctuary/sanity/safe/etc. and none felt anxiety/pressure there.
I guess it's just how we imagine our perfect classrooms will be when we have a job/own class in our perfect school.
I worked there for a year before I did my PGCE, so observed best practice and then blatantly (sp?) To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. ied it throughout my PGCE, which probably explains how I landed the jobs I did when I qualified!
Wish I could go back now and observe for a few days again, a refresher course! Hundreds of miles away though... To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

It sounds idyllic!
Its interesting that the children didnt have the best backgrounds, I worked with a teacher whose previous school had been in a deprived area, he commented that the children there were more interested in learning and less spoilt and a bit more grateful for anything you did for them than the children at our school, who, while not the sharpest tools in the box were a bit spoilt materialistically and pandered to. If someone was in trouble at school, angry mum or dad would come to school because their child had been told off.
It completely changes the atmosphere in a school when the older children have some form of responsibility for the younger children, I think it genuinely leads to them caring about others, rather than just thinking about themselves all the time.
