Ok, so I know there's only a dozen or so of us post regular, but it's nice to know that that many people visit!
I've been thinking about changing it to a dotcom, after I've let it snowball a bit longer.
The thinking is this:
At the moment, forumup.org get all the revenue from the clicks on the Google ads. They host it for free, in return for the Google revenue.
It costs about $7.95 (£?) a month to have it as a dotcom, and I'd get the revenue.
I wouldn't keep the revenue... I'd give it to a children's charity, we could choose our favourite, e.g. NSPCC? The $7.95 would just be my contribution anyway (I'm sure I could claim it as a tax-free business expense, though I might have to set this forum up as a charity, I'm not sure.)
I don't know how many clicks are To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. e from here, but I know I have clicked a few times myself by accident! And the ads are pretty relevant (apart from the egg incubator ones!)
I'd also get more control over the forum, be able to change more stuff, like smilies etc. (I still need to sort those out!)
I don't like the thought of forumup getting the cash (I presume they're making a profit from it!) when the NSPCC could so easily benefit.
