Default Can anyone recommend an agency in the South East?

I am feeling very grumpy today! (Having a vile cold doesn't help!)

When I had an interview with my current agency way back in August they said that within a few weeks they would have enough work for me to be virtually full time. It is now November and I have had a grand total of two days. I went into my agency yesterday and got the distinct impression I had been over-looked. Today, they called me and offered me something 30 miles away, but before I had chance to consider it, they changed their minds and said they were going to offer it to someone with more experience as the school is quite difficult.

I said I felt I had been mis-led when I was taken on in August, and after saying things about the weather and teachers not getting ill, she then said that schools want people they know and teachers with more experience (I am an NQT). Grr! That's not what they said in the summer!

I have decided it is high time that I signed on with someone else - can anyone recommend an agency in the Brighton area?

Sorry to hear things have been quiet for you.

From personal experience I can recommend:

Supply Desk,
Kelly's,
Teaching Personnel

and if you are willing to work in the west - Lancing, Shoreham, Worthing etc, then it is worth registering with E-teach as you can then contact schools directly asit is now the county list.

Hayes are also in Brighton but I do not rate them.

Skiteacher is currently supplying in the same area so she may be able to offer some more.

It is best to register with as many agencies as possible, more chance of getting work!

Hope that helps! If you need anymore help/advice, give me a shout.

Have you gone to schools direct? My schools (admittedly not in the South) only go to agencies once they have called all the supply teachers they know personally up... Just a thought... I hope things pick up soon for you...

Thank you! I shall investigate Kellys and Supply desk. (If they offer incentives for 'introductions' I shall be happy to mention your name). I'm already with TP.

It's funny how things can change in a day. I got offered work for today, and this afternoon, as I was sat mar

hi, sorry I haven't posted for a while. I'm in Brighton too. I'm supposedly signed up with Hays but even after 'words' with them have only had 3 days in 2 terms. My main agency is Select who are excellent, really friendly, really work for you - Charlotte is the primary consultant - they do do introductions - PM me and i'll give you my details!
Schools in sussex don't do independent supply all go through agencies - apprently mostly Hays in brighton - I just don't know who it is that gets the work!
Good luck and shout if you want any more local advice!
