Default Returning to teaching

I haven't taught since June, left my old school as didn't like it there and couldn't stay any longer. Currently I've got a job in a children's home to give me frequent money. I want to quit in January and go back into teaching. Do supply agencies stop taking you on if you've been out of teaching over a period of time? How long's too long? My few months should be nothing when compared to women taking a year out on maternity etc.

when I "returned" to teaching in 2001 I hadn't been in a classroom since I finished training in 1992. I did take a returning teachers course at the local Uni, but I didn't have to. I caught up pretty quickly really and haven't looked back since.

June to January's nothing I'm sure! I've had a few terms out ill, and you've been working with kids in the meantime, should stand you in good stead with them! Like you say, it's not much more than maternity cover, and I've known teachers off longer than that with sick notes before now...
