as I have just found out that basically I'm the only one left off my course that hasn't managed to get any sort of contract whether it be permanant or temporary. I will probably be ok tomorrow but sometimes it does get me down.

poor you!

Don't worry, it is just the right job for you hasn't come along. Just think of all the experience you are gaining from doing supply.

Keep your chin up.

When I'm thinking straight I believe that supply will give me more confidence etc so that when the job for me comes along I will be better at it than if I just got a job straight away. My boyfriend thinks it too, he thinks it will 'toughen me up' and be my advantage at the end.

But what pisses me off the most is when you bump into people and they say 'Have you applied for jobs?, Are you going to apply? and you just feel like screaming yes a lot of jobs thank you very much. Just because they got a job they automatically assume you didn't bother trying if you haven't.

Sorry rant over

e to do supply for the first year! It's a great confidence builder, and you get to visit so many different schools, it's a great way to get introduced to other teaching methods etc., and if it weren't for the dire job situation (unemployment in general has just risen by abouy 97,000 too!), in theory, at the end of the year, you and the schools should be able to pick eachother, none of this interviewing stuff... think it'd be a fairer system, and everyone would know what they were getting into....

But that's just me... had a crap first school, totally different to what I saw on my 1hr visit the week before the interview! Would love to have done supply in the araea and seen for myself what it was like on a normal day!

Chin up matey, it'll happen!

yes, I remember that. Although I do now get "But I thought they were short of teachers?" aaarrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

It is character building supply, it gave me a lot of confidence and skills that I use now!

Get yourself know to your local schools, find a few you like and aim to become their indisposable best/permenant/first choice supply teacher and drop LOADS of hints that you need a full time job. It does work! When I told my regular supply school I was leaving, they tried desperately to create a job for me! So get yourself known!

And whenever you want to rant you know where we are

of hours and of course I then start to think about the 4 term rule. If I don't start my induction by Jan 2008 then I can't even do supply anymore. I have to just try and get a terms contract.

Its a long way away yet, give me and hour and I will have snapped out of this mood!

Kind of hoping I don't get a call tomorrow or Friday as I want to go shopping!

Sorry, posted that at the same time as you firecrest!

It's all true... it's just a long way from where you're feeling right now... and to those people who say stuff like that, just tell them about the two teachers actively seeking employment for every one teacher who is employed!

God! Posted that as you posted your last one too!

Imagine if us lot got in a room together... we've got 5 conversations going here at once, and that's typing! I can talk at least 3 times quicker than I can type and click!
