Default Need a summer job

So disappointed, applied for a playscheme job working with kids who have special needs, worked there about 3 years ago and thought now I'm a qualified teacher and have loads more SEN experience I'd walk it and that would be my summer pocket money sorted.

How wrong could I be, didn't even get an interview!
Don't know how I'm gonna earn money over summer. I've contacted my local council, children's services and social services cos

lly I want to work with kids who have special needs but they have said that they don't know of any work in that area and any work that does become available is advertised in the local press.

Really don't want just any old job or to sign on -AHHHHH so annoying!

I'm going to ask at my local Nursery. It'll probably only be £5 an hour (less than Nursery Nurse) but that's better than nowt. Promotions jobs are often quite common during summer so try that perhaps? I reckon I'll be signing on again though. Good luck with hunting!

I usually do admin or telesales. i know it's not to do with children but does give a nice break. i dont actually feel like im working unless its with children so it's more like actually getting the 6 weeks holiday!! Anyway I have been lucky in past...worked for a child, court advisory service. I was just typing reports but gave me lots of insight into child protection issues etc. Also worked in a prison, again admin but had responsibility to listen in to paediphiles phone calls (horrible i know) but again linked with child protection and safe guarding children.

Good old Orange pay a fortune with lots of over time!!!! (not sure if you have one near you or an equivalent??) We have loads of telesales centres up here, think it's to do with our Geordie accents being so trusting?!!

Anyway you never know, whatever you go for you might just be lucky to find it has links with children and may give you insights into another area which can benefit your understanding when teaching.

Good luck with job hunt...Ill be joining you too, really couldnt sit around all summer either, would drive me

Default Don't believe it!

Wow, I got home from work today and had a letter from the playscheme company - They have given me a job!
Apparently people who apply and have already worked thee before are guaranteed a place without the need for an interview
I'm so pleased!

I'm having a really good week so far, I've had work everyday, even managed to fit in a half day on Tue before going to look around a school I'm applying to.
Yesterday I worked in a school that is new to my agency and the school asked me to go back today, I had the most adorable reception class this afternoon. My agency consultant was

e up because the school were impressed so will be using the agency again. He has now asked me to go to another school that is new on their books in a few weeks time.

I've also been asked to go on a free course on Saturday morning to do with behaviour management, so I've put my name down and its another thing to add to my job applications.

Fingers crossed my streak of good luck stays around with these jobs I'm applying to.

Have a good weekend everyone,
I only realised today that Monday is a bank holiday, then Thur most schools are closed for voting. Got work already for Tue and Fri.
