Default uni presentation - ICT and supply teachers

hi all,

i am interested how you keep up to date (or maybe not) with ICT.

do any of you have any success/horror stories?
do you have any favourite websites that support you?
does your agency/LEA/usual school train you?

looking forward to hearing your news,

rubyrose x

I had an Interactive Whiteboard course run by my agency during half term. It was great to get to play with them as we supplys don't often have the time to during our hectic days!!!!

Hi... good to see you got it posted rubyrose!

I'm ICT specialist, so I pretty much keep uptodate as a hobby (hence this forum!)

You can find demo versions of a lot of the software on the programmers websites, if you want to keep up with it.

I think a bigger question/challenge would be asking older teachers, who haven't been brought up with computers, have been brought up to speed... I know a lot have stuck their heads in the sand, full-timers, and swopped their ICT times with the youngsters, in return for RE lessons!

I haven't felt a need to keep up with it all, I don't think it's moving on quickly, the schools might use different softwares, but it's all pretty much the same at the end of the day, just like being able to use different worksheets for the same lessons in each school you go to..

Just my opinion, as a competent IT bod!

Good luck with it!

I got quite a lot of training at uni and in my first post. Thing every classroom seems to use different software! I have probably picked up most from doing supply. Some schools use certain websites, which Ive then been able to use in other schools. I usually play around at lunchtimes and note down any sites given in planning left. The children often show me quite a bit.

I agree with Nutty, Im young and grown up with ICT so I can pick up skills quickly.

The main problem in supply is when the class teacher has the laptop so you cant get on the interactive board at all!!! Even worse when there is no other whiteboard!!! You can completely understand why the class teacher needs her lap top just can make a difficult day!!

I think it's good for the children not to use the IWB all the time. Old fashioned teaching methods are always reliable and can be interactive if you use your imagination!
