Default first day's supply done!

Hi all,

Well I survived it...and at lunch it looked as if it was going to be a gem of a day! Teaching my own subject and had a class of 6 due to 'bring your child to work' day. Woo!

However, by 3.30 it had deteriorated due to class I was warned were difficult. A

of them were testing me to the limit and I asked them to stay til the end (they hadn't done any work) and stood near the door collecting everyone elses work. These two were pushing past me, I tried to shut the door etc when I realised what was going on I just stepped aside (after they'd pushed me) and let them go. As I returned to the cover room their head of year phoned as they complained i'd assaulted them blah blah blah and they had marks. Grrr! I explained situation to head of cover and he was still happy for me to come in again on monday.

But the whole thing still worries me I hate to think this school has a bad opinion of me because of these two girls! It's left me thinking bout a day which was generally successful, as a worry preying at the back of my mind.

Thanks every so much for all your help and support earlier in the week!

Oh you poor thing. Try not to worry about it, because I bet the names of those two girls are all too familiar to the school and I don't suppose it's the first time they've pulled a stunt like that. If the school had any concerns at all about you they wouldn't have asked you back for Monday.

Look at the big picture - it sounds as though most of your day went really well and as though you enjoyed it until it went a bit pear-shaped. Hope it goes well on Monday - I'll be thinking of you.

That sounds awful. Poor you!

Can I just say I'm soooo relieved I teach primary school kids. Secondary children sound nasty.

, I guess some secondary school kids (like primary school kids!), whenever there's new teachers, are going to try it on... like nutcracker said, if they're happy for you to go in on Monday, then these two girls are well-known to the school, those names which are never out of the staffroom conversations!

Pleeeeease don't let this play on your mind over the weekend, and as always on supply, remember it's a completely new day on Monday, and expect the unexpected!

Hold your head up high...

Poor you, its horrid when things like that happen! As the others said, they must be well known to the school and the school have no problems with you if they are happy to have you back on Monday.

Enjoy your weekend and remember, Monday is a new day!

Hi all,

Thanks vv much for the replies! I went back today (just booked for the morning) and all my lessons were so much more pleasant. Good kids, nice kids who did work and what I asked them.

So thankfully my first days' supply teaching now feels a very positive experience
