Default Two schools in one day.

I was booked in for a school in a morning and the agency said that they had a place for me in the afternoon at another school and it would earn me more money than I would get if I did one school all day.

So I said yes.....why not.....without thinking.

Now as the day approaches and I look at the directions it appears that I may have a very frantic dinnertime rush with the dilemma of stay to mark or drive straight off!?!?

I have just been rung by a head offering me Friday supply. As I am already booked, I said I could do the morning but not the afternoon. The head rang me back after thinking about this and said that would be fine so I too have a

dash at lunchtime to get to my next school !
Luckily, I am back in the Friday am school on Monday also so can take Numeracy / Literacy books with me to mark and bring back on Monday!
But tbh, I wouldn't bother marking too much (or makr with kids if poss) if they know you have to go to another school in the pm.
Hope you have a good day

Good to hear you are getting into the swing of things Mr Pessimist.

As for marking, I would agree with Ruthyb - let the school know you have to dash of at lunchtime and that you will get as much marking done at break as possible. Plus if possible, let the children self mark their work (a tip I use whenever I can

I just hate rushing between schools, chomping on a sandwich as I drive and giving myself indigestion!

In my experience, you earn less doing two half days than you do doing a full day, but this may not be general.

Coming late into thread (problems with connection last few days...), I hope it's going well Mr P...

On nutcracker's point, it's well worth asking schools how much they pay on half days...

My two most regular schools pay differently, Grottsville pay 3.25/3.25 hours (50/50 split), and Snobston pay 3.5/2.5 (so yes, I already lose out if I work a full day there, which I don't do... mornings only for me!)

If I work G'ville am and S'ton pm, I get 5.75 hours pay.
If I work S'ton am and G'ville pm, I get 6.75 hours pay!

That S'ton don't pay 6.48 is an whole other issue!

I feel quite lucky - agency pays 56% for morning and afternoon work and even more if I work in two different schools!!

Have decided though that I don't much like working in two different schools, especially after Tuesday's fiasco!! Never do two schools if it's a rainy and windy day!!!

Well, what an intersting day I had - followed the print out directions for the morning school to the letter and parked up outside....a completely different school. The teacher then sent me off to another school. The caretaker of that school (after first saying that I had found the right one then deciding that it wasn't after all!) didn't know where my school was. I stopped a comp schoolboy to ask for directions and he sent me to the Roman Catholic version of y school, where a teacher finally sentme to the right one.........8:50!

Got lost then trying to find the carriageway to get to my other school so after stopping the car and composing myself, finally found the right road and got to the second school with 20 minutes to spare!!
