Default Just turned down a half a terms work

Got a call from an agency I'm about to join up with (register tomorrow) about a full time post at a school that will last for half a term with possibility of being longer, and I turned it down!!

Had to think about it and felt bad for saying no, but I've got lots of days after half term in a school that I really like (and they like me) and don't want to let them down or my other agency. Plus this school has a job in September that I'm going for! It's in a really nice area, staff are great and kids are lovely.

The half a term job was for a Year 4 in a challenging class, and although I seem to be fine with behaviour management (surprising cos I found it hard during training), after these two weeks in a challenging Year 2, I really fancy having it easy for a bit - and not have to win over another hard class.

You do right... if you can go without the money, as you're getting the work anyway, then go with what you feel most happy with... just a big confidence booster that they asked you!

You'll have to think about how you let the fav. school know.. if you say you turned it down (it'd be good for them to know you've had an offer) you have to give them a reason that won't make them think twice about offering you any work in the future... I know I won't get offered full time work as I've

be a supply teacher (so they know they can rely on me to be available long term, not just until I've found a job)... just tread carefully with it, so they know you're still after a job, but don't crawl and say you turned it down because of x, y, z and you like them better!

You're right, it was a great confidence booster!!

Not sure what to do about letting the other school know, hadn't actually thought about it before. May drop it into conversation with the deputy one day. Will have to think carefully about what I tell him about the reason why I declined the offer though.
