Why can't some agency workers take no for an answer?
I joined this agency that specialises in SEN work, which I would like to do eventually I rejistered with a guy I already knew from another agency I used to do SEN support work for. He told me about a SEN teaching job on tuesday I said I wasn't keen on it, but he said the school were desparate, although I wasn't on the top of the heads list he wanted me to go for an interview today after work. I said no to him again yesterday because I know the school and don't want to work there. He kept go on and on how it was a good opportunity for me and he hadn't got anyone else to go for the job because the other teacher they wanted to interview decided to take another job offer. So, I emailed my agency and was truthful could have To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. I get a text saying the the interview is confirmed even tho. I've said I can't make it. On the one hand I feel bad for not going, but the school can always try another agency to get a SEN teacher. But on the other hand I feel like I'm being forced into a job I don't want and they are not listening or taking no for an answer. I know its sel To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. but my health is more important to me then a job. So I didn't trek half way across london for a job I'm not certain to get.
I'm just so pissed off the agency guy didn't listen to me when I said no, probably thinking about his own commision. I've had about 5 or 6 messages on my phone about going to the interview or rearranging it. They just don't leave me alone.
Sorry for ranting but need to let it out. Was wrong to do this?

Good for you for sticking to your guns!
That was definitely out of order - I would ring them tomorrow and tell that that you do not appreciate being hassled about a job you have already clearly stated you did not want to apply for.
Agree with you on the commission comment!

You definitely need to ring and strongly complain. That is not on. If it wasn't an SEN agency, I would recommend you told them where to go! But is there any other SEN agencies you can join?

I'm not bothered about the agency being an SEN because there are plenty of others in london. I'm just not ready to take on a SEN teacher role yet, I've done loads of sen support work but not the teaching. I don't want to waste my time or theres going 4 an interview and they just can't accept that. I'll ring them tommorow and make myself clear they shouldn't be bothering me like this.

Hi purple, missed this thread earlier...
Sounds like the guy's after a late Xmas bonus to me! Certainly don't feel pressured into going for an interview, the staff at the school wouldn't appreciate it either I'm sure, if you turned up and scattered germs over them! Know the feeling!
Why is it that agencies always make you feel bad when its them in the wrong most of the time!
I am ks1 &2 trained but have had loads more experience with ks1, my only experience of ks2 before I started supply in November was a 3wk placement in y3/4. The agency don't take much notice though and I've been doing loads of ks2 - I know its all experience but I much prefer ks1.
The other day one agency rang to say they had sent my CV to a school who had a vacancy for a y5/6 job. They thought that because it was near where I lived I might as well go for it! No surprises when I never heard from the school!
Another thing that annoys me is if I get an interview or I'm visiting a school one agency guy sounds really pissed off with me - He knows that I'm after a permanent position and I'm only doing supply till I find one (perhaps if he gave me some decent supply work rather than putting me in crappy schools with year groups I don't want then I may be a bit more keen on supply.) My other agency wish me the best of luck etc.

Stick to your guns Purple! Doing this job has To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. e me really assertive I have discovered! You've got to make it plain to these people that no means no! I got really p*ssed off this morning when the agency forgot to cancel me and tried to get me to drive all the way back to where I came from to teach another class at 8:30 am! I flatly refused! I got to stay at the school who is being charged for half a day whilst I am being paid a full day!
