Default Telling your agency you don't like the school

After such a horrible day on supply with Y4 last week I was wondering whether I should contact my agency to tell them I didn't like it and would prefer not to go back there. Was wondering how you lot deal with this?

My agency actually rang this morning to find out how I got on in the school. They had never used the school before so I was the 'guinea

' really!
I told him that there were about 3 in the class who were awful and it was difficult to discipline them as nothing really phased them.
I also mentioned that the head and other staff were aware of the problem trio. I explained that I couldn't fault the staff - they were really nice and helpful.

He asked if I would go back and also asked how I thought other supply teachers would find the school. I explained that I wouldn't really want to go back and also explained that I am used to ks1 in fairly 'nice schools' not ks2 in very tough schools so teachers with more experience of this may

e a bit better.

Its really annoying that I get so much ks2 work - when I first went to the interview for supply I stated that although I am ks1 & ks2 trained I preferred KS1 as the only experience I have with ks2 is a 3 week teaching practice in Y3. I have been given supply in Y4,5,6 as well as day nurseries (when school work is short) but have only had 2 days in KS1. I don't want to turn down work as I need the money and want to stay in the agencies good books plus I feel that only doing ks1 will reduce the amount of work I get, but I am rarely happy when I teach KS2!

I absolutely agree with you about prefering KS1 over kS2. I generally get an even amount of KS1 and 2 which is lucky but there are times when I'm stuck in KS2 and hate it! It's perfectly fine to let the agency know what you think of a school. They expect it!

I prefer KS2, although sometimes do KS1. I once refused to go back for the second day of a two day booking. Still hardly believe I did it, but don't regret it. I did all my training in tough, inner city schools, have now moved to the country and was

beyond belief by the behaviour in this Yr 6 class. It wasn't just me - they were utterly appalling during assembly as well. A well known problem school. You should tell the agency how you felt - they do understand.

Tell them!

I let my agencies know which schools I refuse to go back to and why. Saves you having to make excuses up when they ring and ask you to work there again!
