Default New to Year 1

Hi, i am an NQT that was been working in a year 3 class for 7 months! I recently got a position in a Year 1 class! myself and the current Rec teacher are meeting next week for 'hand over'
Just wondering if you had any advice as to what i should be asking/what information i should recieve?

Hi, I always wanted to know about the children, their background, abilities, personalities etc. Handovers are funny things though. The current Reception teacher will already know what s/he wants to tell you. I worked in one school where you met up with the outgoing teacher for a whole day to discuss all of the above,

s etc. They paid for a supply teacher to be in both classes for the day... and you got a day obviously to talk about your outgoing class too with their new teacher... wonderful, and you really hit the ground running... What you need to ask depends on you. What will you retain because it genuinely interests you? What can you find out from tracking already? Do you have access to their files regarding home life? Don't waste the outgoing teacher's time by asking about these things if you can find the info elsewhere.. but little things like 'Child A's mum is Child B's mum's best friend' - invaluable!!!
