Hey guys,

I thought it might be nice to put together some good activities for the first day of school. I am going to need to plan for the first two days for my Year 1/2 class and I just want some more

s to fill up my days. So far I have thought of:

Numeracy - Counting games/activities and 1 more/less activities, simple +/- by couting.

Literacy - Holiday writing, write a postcard to the class, write about myself and my family

PSHE - Circle time games, getting to know you, class/school rules

PE - Parachute games, team games,

ART - self portrait

Anyway, I would really appreciate some more

Default Quick response please!!!!

Well, I had my first day today (1/2 a day INSET and 1/2 a day getting class ready). What a nightmare! Sooooo much information and I've forgotten most of it already! Still don't really know what I've planned for tomorrow is going to be suitable for my kids (1/2 coming up from Reception and 1/2 coming up from Yr 1). Feel like I am overthin

Do you think I need to give the little ones some constructive play in the class too??? Tomorrow I'm also going to get them to do some holiday writing (free writing to see what they can do) and picture drawing. Then in the afternoon I have some ICT time (illustrate a school rule on

magic) and PE time to end the day with parachute games.

On top of this I need to be litening to individual readers and doing an ERR/phonics assessment for each child. I shall have an LSA in the morning and I've asked my jobshare teacher to come in after play for the 2nd session to get to know the kids and listen to some readers.

I'm a bit worried beacuse I've been given PE time at the end of each thurs (2:35-3:20) but school ends at 3;20 and by the time the little ones are changed (10 mins either side) there will only be about 25 mins of PE in the hall - that's not much surely each week?!!!!!

As for the 1st days back, my class are mostly lovely as a whole. There are the odd ones with issues and one major behavioural problem which seems to aggravate everything so I will need to sit on that one if you know what I mean! I only have LSA help in the morning so can't rely on her to work with said child. The child is on an IEP but not statemented (should be 1:1). How do you all

ERR is like phonics, reading and spelling. They learn sight words, break up words, sound them out and put sounds together to read. To be honest, I'm very new to this so it's being a learning curve!!!!

Hopefully next week will go as smoothly as this week. I just need to know how to deal with this one child in the whole class environment. The child has a behaviour reward chart which seems to be wor
