Default Quick Question

Just qualifed as a NQT in ICT. Didnt manage to get a permanent job in the round of interviews so moving into the supply teacher front.

Been to an agency (wont disclose) and was told in an interview that I should make myself available for primary schools as well as secondary schools.

I thought if you trained for secondary schools - you could not teach primary schools. Could someone clear this up for me please.

Helloo to you! My understanding is that if you have a QTS then you can work in any year group without having to retrain. Though I wouldn't fancy going into secondary ... the Y6s scare me!

Hi.
Yes, I think you can teach anywhere that you are happy to teach and who are happy to have you!
Decide whether you are happy to work in primaries and, if the answer is yes, then go for it! Maybe you could get a few days experience first by volunteering in a local primary?
Good luck

I actually did what you're asking about, except the other way round, I trained in primary & now offer primary & secondary. I coped & now have more work offered.

As many will no doubt tell you, one of the perks of supply is if you don't get on at a place you don't have to go back. But nothing ventured nothing gained. I say go for it, you may be pleasantly surprise, I was.

It depends on your interest that in which class you want to teach. But if you are asking me so I would say you have to teach secondary classes because there is a bit difficult to teach small kids.
