Default not sure how i got an interview but i did! What to do with a class of 26 morning nursery for 20 minutes?!

I know I've not been on much for ages but when the eye of Ofsted is on you...there is sooo much to do!

This interview is for a maternity cover a lot closer to home. The new head at my current school has asked all of us on termporary contracts to re-apply for our own jobs, and advised us to look around for others, which I have been doing (obviously), and this has come up. Woo-hoo!

Anyway, it says to base the lesson around any theme or area of learning and I may use any additional resources as stimulus. I'd appreciate any

s! I'm not sure what form the lesson should take but I don't want to have them sitting on the carpet for 20 mins. I'm going to phone the school on Monday and see if I can get any more info too.

Please help! Theteaching is not until Thursday, and the interview with the governers is the following Monday so at least I don't have to worry about that until after the teaching observation.

Congratulations! I could rack my brains but I'm sure others will be much better at giving advice about nursery!

If the weather is nice, take them outside for some number rhymes and maths games.

If the weather is pants, read them the Gruffalo and get them to do some actions for each character/part of the story, e.g. a mouse took a st

around on tiptoes) etc.

Hope this helps? I've got my interview and lesson tomorrow! Teaching Yr1/2 for half an hour (doing a maths themed lesson with pictogram activity) followed by the interview. It's not until tomorrow avo so my head has allowed me to leave at lunch to prepare myself for it!

Wish me luck!

or allow them to move around the room (like an animal descibed in a song?) and back to the carpet area...
Use props/instruments as well to capture and maintain the children's attention.

The 20 minutes will fly by and should show your strengths better than just setting up a variety of activities for the children to choose from around the room. Even if you follow a theme, you won't have as much input directly with the children and you really want to showcase how you interact with them.
