Default Interview - please help!

Hello peeps! I got an interview! It's for a 2 day jobshare in a mixed year group class (probably lower school)

ting in September and they've narrowed the candidates down to 3. (Fingers crossed!)

So here goes, I need some help:

1. I need to deliver a cross-curricular 30 min lesson (not long!) to a Yr1/2 class based on the topic 'Here and There'. They have visited a

the learning forward and the children are showing progression throughout the lesson! So, let's say a 10 min intro, 15 min activity and 5 min plenary? Any

s?

2. I need to bring something that shows my successful teaching of a mixed ability class - I can do some literacy activities that I have done with Year 3 to show progression in sentence writing and differentiated work. Or maybe differentiation with the SEN kids I teach in small groups for Literacy or Maths maybe?

3. I will be interviewed with questions relating to safeguarding (must brush up on - any reccommended sites?) and promoting the welfare of the children. I guess this is child protection and being pro-active if I recognise an indiviual is having difficulties? Help!

4. The interview questions are structured around my personal statement and the job spec so I guess I'll just have to find lots of examples to support what I've said!

To be honest, I'm more excited at the mo' than nervous but I'm sure that will change. It's not for another week or so so I have time to prepare but would appreciate some

Thanks in advance!

Congratulations and good luck!

I'm not sure I can give any good ideas for KS1 but I'll have a think about safeguarding for you.

As far as safegurdiing goes have a look on you LEAs website and search 'safeguarding children'. Cornwall and the Isles of Scilley have a section called Local Safeguarding Board (I don't know if every council has the same scheme). This has all their policies and legislation on it. As to the lesson

Thanks for this info Wendy - one of my agencies recently asked me if I 'needed to update my training in safeguarding children'. My other agency and the school I work with directly have never asked me this - my latest CRB is very new so is this enough?!!
Had a look on my LEA website and it just seemed to concentrate on CRB checks!

Hi Jane, there has been a lot of changes recently in safegurding. We had an inset day recently to bring us up to date on what to look for, who to contact, worrying situations and the use of technology against school staff by pupils, very interesting. If your agency can get you on a course it should be worth it.

Hi again!

I have an

for the lesson:

I originally thought to do an art activity but once we've talked in the intro, I don't think we'd have much time left to do a successful art lesson!!!! I am going to explain to the chn that my friend is coming this weekend to visit me with her 6 year old daughter and I want to know where to take her in the town. And ask if they can collect info from the class using a pictogram (postits with kids faces and names on) to find out the most popular. So, the cross-curricular will be maths obviously and the learning will be collecting and presenting info and then interpreting at the end. I could take their learning further with questions, e.g. why is ........ not as popular as .......? How could they be improved? I could use the interctive white board to show

Also, I am going to bring examples of writing activities I have done with my lower set literacy group (since they have been ma

progress for a while now - hence successful teaching!!!!!).

I have found a good webite on safeguarding and I can also show examples for when I have been vigilant in school or have been teaching the SEN chn about cyber bullying etc.

I guess the rest of the interview is about me swatting up on my personal statement and the job spec to prove I am right for the job!!!!!!

What do you think?
