Beginning to give up hope...
Hi everyone!
Well I know it's early in the term, but I haven't had any teaching work since the middle of November, I've applied to over 55 jobs now and had 6 interviews, and getting nowhere. The job centre want me to start thinking of applying to office jobs - what was the point in me training if I can't get work?
I suppose at least I've had interviews, but getting up at 6.30, getting dressed, breakfasted and ready by 7.30 and waiting by the phone is starting to take its toll.
I think I just need a little encouragement from you lot!!!
Tar

I hate waiting for that call too - I sympathize! To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
It sounds like your applications are excellent as you've been offered so many interviews. Did you get any feedback from the interviews? Those jobs may not have been right for you but I'm sure a super school will find you soon - you keep going girl! Fingers crossed!
Have you contacted schools direct about supply work or maybe you could change agency? In my area, there hasn't been a lot of supply work either - in fact, a local school was short-staffed today because of the snow, and they have chosen to use TAs instead!!!

Hi, it is still early in the term and it has been bad circumstances with schools being closed due to the weather etc. Have you registered with different agencies or approached schools yourself? As Jane said you must be sending out good applications to get the interviews. I have left supply to do office work and it was the best move for me as I couldn't To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. Hi, thanks guys. It's very frustrating, but when I didn't receive any work in December, despite being registered with SEVEN, yes SEVEN agencies, it was a little downheartening to say the least.
However, some news springs to life today - a school I applied to rang me this morning and want me to go in tomorrow for a look around. Their closing date hasn't passed yet though so I'm a little unsure as to why they are contacting me prior - I should, however, prepare for tomorrow like an interview. I need to think of some questions!

I know just how you feel. Having completed close on to 100 applications and still not getting a job I understand the frustration. I was lucky to get regular supply work at a local school who I approached directly and I have had no calls from either agency this school year. I'm not really bothered though cos I'm currently working as an HTLA but if I wasn't I would have been snookered. Perhaps your agencies could find you TA work in the meantime? I know it's not teaching but it gets you into schools and noticed by the staff so supply work may come from it.

Good luck for tomorrow Miss! Why not ask if they've any supply coming up in the meantime? Then you can make a proper impression! Let us know how it goes won't you? And on the work, schools generally To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. Hi, thanks everyone.
I actually had most of my supply work during last term as a TA, but that school did give me supply teaching work, about 2 weeks, as well. They took advantage a little though, knowing I was getting half the pay but making me do stuff TAs wouldn't do. and I don't mean HLTAs - so put it this way, I don't want to be doing anymore of that, I need more experience teaching.
As for tomorrow, it is just a look around, it is before the closing date but the school rang me. I'm a little To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. by that, but I suppose they might have someone in mind already who is internal / knows the school and wants to give everyone the opportunity to look around. Although the DHT didn't say that - she said that they had had some good applications and they were inviting some of us to look around the school. A little strange, as the closing date isn't for another 9 days. Let's hope its a good omen!
