Default Interactive white boars

I am just about to start supply work after a few years out of the job. I have been looking around a few schools and noticed this Interactive White Board in EVERY classroom. I have no

Not sure about the courses but the best teaching will be from the kids who all know how to use them!!!

Generally, you log on with the user name and password of "Supply" (or the school will give you a personal log in) and then it's just like using a computer. The kids all know how to correct any mistakes you might make

Hi there! You could contact your LEA they often run courses on using interactive white boards. I do find though that they work through the teacher's laptop which they take with them when they go out! When I was working in the school with the IWB I could access I found the children brilliant at solving any problems; especially recalibrating!

& register its free then download a flipchart viewer and get browsing! There is loads of info on the site and top tips. Not all areas use this company but principles are the same. I agree kids will put you straight, I am biased as a huge fan but IWB's are just great!! I have all my resources from my previous full time career on a 8gb memory stick to take into supply jobs, so much easier than files and books. Good Luck!

Welcome to the forum and good luck with the restart!

In a nutshell, IWBs are laptops with a pen to write on the screen with... and you can use your finger as a mouse... if you know that, you can get by enough! There's usually a Notepad type of application you can use rather than Word/Publisher to make writing stuff up for the kids more like using chalk...

Good luck!

Hi there...
+ you can do a level 1 - Foundation Skills Course - for free at this address. I did it as part of one of the modules studied at uni and its great. You don't have to do it all at once, just create an account and do it as and when you please. You get a certificate at the end too, which looks good in your portfolio. Although Promethean and Smartboard vary, many of the basics are similar.

There is a bit difficult to place interactive whiteboards in all classrooms because it used with a computer and projector to make up to a 100 inch touch screen display and I think it would be a good technology for students.
Moreover, if you can use the interactive whiteboard you’ll need a multimedia projector and computer.
