Default Advice needed please!

Hey guys! Long time no post - sorry but have been sooooo busy with work, wedding and BSL!

I work part time (3 days per week) at a mainstream school teaching deaf kids but this week the head offered me 4 days with the possibility of funding a Teacher of Deaf course (which is one day out of school per week paid). I said yes but went home and thought about it and now I'm not so sure. I quite like only doing 3 days there and doing 2 days supply (less stress). Do you think that I can just change my mind? I suppose I'd do 4 days if I definitely get on the course (as I'll only be in school 3 days anyway) but if I don't get the course, have I a right to change to 3 days? I haven't signed anything. I find out about the course next month hopefully.

Thanks in advance for any views! I'm probably worrying about nothing!

P.S. It's my first wedding dress fitting today! Woohoo! Hence I'm not supplying today!

Hehe! How did it go??? Bet you looked gorgeous... did you go all teary?

I'd just be straight with the HT... if it's 3 days in, 1 day out... lovely, lovely, lovely. If it's 4 days in, you're not so keen because a) for every day you have in school on a contract, you have to do a

of hours prep etc. at the weekends, or b) if you were only available for supply 1 day a week then most other schools wouldn't bother to contact you as it would be too infrequent and therefore too much instability for their kids.. you'd basically only ever work 4 days a week unless you got supply in their school, and you want to keep 'in' with the other schools for future work...

Hope this helps...

Thanks Nutty - my plan now is to wait til June wo see whether the TOD course materialises and then if so, fine, if not I will speak up! I think I have the right to negotiate my days as there will be another full time TOD and part time TOD working there too so they should have enough staff! Having said that, we have been two LSA's down this term and it's been crazy!!!! Plus, Ofsted's looming.....
