Default browned off

I've come for a moan. I am currently covering long term sickness, and have been sicnce the end of Jan, in a Reception class. The teacher is retiring in July and so I was considering appplying for the job. It's been offered to other teachers in the school and one has said she is interested. She wants to jobshare. My beef is that she is secondary trained and currently working in Year 5/6! They certainly won't be keen on employing an NQT alongside such in inexperienced teacher!! I've asked the head and she said that they would consider NQTs with FS experience but does she mean it. I wanted a fair fight for the job but I'm not going to get one! I'm still going to apply but I'm not looking forward to working with her as she is a dominating kind of person and I'm not so I think I would probably be walked over (hubby doesn't agree!!). My TA doesn't want to work with her either. Why do people think that you can drag anyone in off the street to successfully work with young children? Thanks for letting me winge!

Oh Wendy that is terrible, but so bloody typical eh. Feel free to moan away we all know where you are coming from. It's a difficult situation to be in and the annoying thing is that you are obviously doing a great job covering for the regular teacher. When I was on one of my placements there was quite a number of secondary teachers that had been moved to the school and this included the HT and DH this was because some of the middle schools had been closed. I was aware that other teachers in the school were not happy with the situation because these teachers could not necessarily teach better. In fact an example was when a class that I was working with who were very high level in a particular subject, were taught by one of the management teachers but he was unable to teach them that particular lesson very well!!!

Obviously it's not across the board as there are some fantastic secondary teachers out there and well able to teach in a primary school but I know these particular teachers were moved when they were not keen to move into an area that they weren't comfortable in.

I would advise you to apply and give it your best, don't feel undermined by this person, you obviously know your area so believe in yourself. It sounds as though the school would be

Good luck with it, a horrible situation but it is so true to life at the moment especially where the teaching world is concerned.
