Yes cannot understand those supply teachers who just cannot be bothered to mark work but we can only do as we are doing. I too prefer to mark as I go but the yr 3 class the other day had a majority of needs (in other words full on, extremely hectic). I think Wendy said the same as me, supply teachers still at school marking and other teachers had all gone home. Still at least we can sleep at night eh

Footiegirl. I suppose there are good and bad points to teaching, in fact any job really at least we are not totally naieve about it all. I am seriously thinking about moving away to do my NQT year if I don't get a job for september. A dreadful thing to do as I have a family who won't be able to come with me. The problem that I have is that where I am a lot of schools don't want to employ an NQT as they consider it as too much like hard work!!!!! We will have to see what happens in that time. It's something I'd rather not do but I want to stay in teaching and think that I MAY

Audrey, if you got a permanent post somewhere else would you consider totally relocating? If so, that might widen your choices a bit?

I know its tough - trying to get a permanent job is a hard slog - and like you say, you want to begin your NQT year.

I am always considering it as it's hopeless here but the rest of the family are more difficult to shift. Hubbie runs own business (although for the first time he is wondering where the work is due to the credit crunch), daughter about to go to polytech here and has a wide circle of friends and other one is at secondary. Should have done this years ago really as it's easier to move chn when they are younger
