Default Argh! Last minute assembly tomorrow! Help!

Oh my God - The teacher of the Deaf turned round to me this morning and asked if I would mind doing a whole school assembly tomorrow instead of her as she has a meeting. I stupidly said yes but now I'm really bricking it! I managed to prepare some things with the Deaf kids about Shrove Tuesday - they're going to help me show the children how to make pancakes, then they are going to hold up some of their own pancake designs and read out their toppings. The thing is, the kids in the school are really badly behaved and I'm not sure that I can

of teachers around the hall while I'm doing assembly but they don't really deal with the problem kids. I guess I can threaten them with staying in at break to practise but I really don't want to lose my break time! I guess I'm feeling really nervous that I won't exude confidence and the kids will see that!!!! Anyone got any tips?

Just calmly ask them to stand up if they talk, works for us, but maybe our behaviour isn't as bad. Have a quiet word to the other teachers before hand ask them to patrol along for quiet especially as it is the deaf kids' assembly?

s will work. the standing up always works for us because thye feel humiliated but I know some kids don't ever feel like that! Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thank you! Just spoken to my future father in law and he really put my mind at rest. In the grander scheme of things, it's not really that important is it? Thing is, I get really emotional when I get cross so it's very important I stay calm! It'll all be over this time tomorrow!!!!
