Default Really dreading tomorrow

Tomorrow I am covering performance management at my part time junior school. I'm not worried about the first or last lessons (Year 3/4) but am absolutely petrified of the middle lessons (Years 5 and 6)!!!! The bahaviour is out of this world!!! I guess my key points are to keep calm, use the school's policy for behaviour managements and use the adult support to the max! Any more advice?

Also, got to rush off tomorrow as need to get to my BSL class about 10 miles away by 6pm!!!! Argh!!!! 3 hours of BSL!

Bach Rescue Remedy!

The rest, just what you said, oh and sit on them from the start... start off tough and you can "reward" them by relaxing if they behave well, but once rebellion starts you can't out on a tough face.

Am sorry but I've had a f'ing awful day today. I didn't know children could be so disrespectful little ****s!!!!! And this is at MY school where I teach in the unit! The day started well - a delightful Year 3 class but then I went to Year 6 - the noise was unbearable. Tried every trick in the book. Then was Year 5 which was even worst! The last lesson was Year 3 - OK but not great! It has really knocked my confidence - the children wouldn't listen to me. They were swearing, throwing stuff and hurling abuse at each other. What's worse, the Head came in with prospective parents!!!! The class were just jabbering on the carpet whilst I was trying with no avail to get their attention. Was it me?????? I need reassurance!!!! If the Head asks me to cover again I'm going to flatly refuse as this was not the job I signed up for!!!!!!

May I add that not all of the children were behaving badly and I

e sure that the children that were sitting beautifully, listening and following instructions got plenty of verbal praise, team points and stickers from me. What does one do when you've got about 7 or 8 boys jibber jabbering, swearing at each other, climbing under desks and talking over you!!!!

Oh C'belle, sounds awful. Is there no one you could send them to, maybe split them between other classes, try talking to other teachers beforehand next time? I

I'm kind of hoping there won't be a next time!!!!! It's not my job to supply for this school!!!!! If the Head does approach me about covering other classes, I will politely decline!

There you go! Hehe! Fate's on your side today... you're bound to get more work in this school now! You have to see turning down work as an investment. It's not costing you money... if you couldn't face those classes, and went in for the money, you could make it worse in the long run and start turning down even more work. Nip it in the bud now, take stock, get your confidence back, and you'll be fine. Added to that, if this school's worth their salt, you'll be back there and won't have time to do the Y6!!! Hope the afternoon goes well...

Thanks Nutty! You're great at making me feel better. I've been so cr*p this morning - meant to be doing housework but have just had about time to type up my BSL work from last night's evening class and now am having an early lunch break!!!! The agency rang again to say that the Head or Dept Head knows me and is lloking forward to seeing me again too!!!!
