Default Bit of a rant

Sorry about this but i have to vent!

On Friday I got a call from my agency arranging 2 weeks work. Only 3 days a week but it was nice to know what i would be doing for a change. After my first day I got a phone call from the agency explaining that the school couldn't afford to pay for the supply teachers it had asked for and as such we wouldn't be required to go back. In total I think there was 5 of us that all had to deal with this! So now I am back in the great unknown.

I can't believe that a school could let its budget get this out of control. Surely someone must have known something about this.

Its

Hi Manda

I'm afraid short-notice cancellations do happen, for all sorts of reasons. I have to say that the reason the school give doesn't sound that likely, they probably

e a bit of a cock-up.

You'll hear stories of cancellations from everyone on here, if you're lucky they cancel before you get to the school and you can find alternative work, but sometimes you will actually get on site before they tell you you're not needed. It's something you just have to accept as part of the job. Thankfully, it really doesn't happen that often.

its good to know it doesn't happen often.

I'll be honest I was more annoyed for the other supply staff, I know that at least one of them was on a long term assignment.

That's horrendous, they do happen but that sounds like a massive cock up! I'm second guessing that maybe wrong bookings by the agency may have played a part in this? I can't believe a school could get it so wrong all by themselves! The long term assignment though, they may have staffing issues and the insurance won't pay out anymore? I know somewhere that happened to, they'd gone over their quota on sick days less than half way through the year and insurance pulled the rug.

As far as I know it was nothing to do with the agency. When I got there the staff at the school seemed really

and ended up muttering amongst themselves about not having any more supply teachers as they couldn't afford it.

Oh well, I'll just chalk this one up to experience and hope for better luck next time.
