At the school I was teaching at yesterday - book day, it was decided that all the teachers would offer a story/author and that the kids would move to which ever was their selection. I thought this was a brilliant To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. Outcome brilliant stories, happy kids, lost kids, frustrated teachers, restarted stories!!!
I will remember this To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. and refine the organisation and do it again.

For world book day we focussed on bed time stories and had a big assembly looking at the chn favourite books. We also had to dress up in our pyjamas. How strange that felt!

we've had a fantastic if knackering week, something happening everyday/ For actual book day we all dressed up and all of KS1 were characters from Alice's adventures in wonderland. I was the To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. It was fantastic, apart from most of the children not knowing who we were at all!
We've decided we are doing a maths week next term and are going to have dressing up day then too!

These themed weeks are great for the kids, but really turn out to be more hard work than expected for the staff! We had healthy living week last term, eco week this term, art week next term, different next year probably, planning's much easier, no marking, but resourcing them is a nightmare! No extra money, but so many trips to Tesco to get stuff!!

yes but come on - it is worth it, i've had more children engage with reading and writing this week than normal for certain. And I love it too! It's how education and learning should be.
But yes, it is knackering, I fell asleep in the staff meeting on thursday!
