Ha! Hilarious! It was you!!! Ok, something else then...
Monsters... adjectives describing monsters? Hallowe'en coming up? Witches, wizards and fireworks? Fireworks is a good one, you can give them paper cut in a firework shape and they can write the adjectives on the tail of the firework.

Can't remember what year group you are? Spooky story, dragons, for some reason stories with a slightly darker edge have many more To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. adjectives than those that are pink and fluffy!

Lol Nutty.
I am year 1 and without help to speak of and on 6 out of 28 can write unaided.
Head would like to see progression, fun etc.
Thanks for the To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. s, here's what I have just thought.
Act1 I describe a person in the class - all chn standing up chn to sit down if they don't fit the description until one child is left standing - quickly make a list of the words used and ask chn to tell me something about these words- prompts Do they tell us to do something? What are they telling us?
Write /show words adj and describing words - chn to repeat a ajd is a describing word.
Act 2
Chn ch one min to talk to person next to them to think of a describing word to write on the board - MA chn to write the words for me.
Act 3 LA to study picture on smart board and describe what they see orally. ask chn which words are the adjectives.
MA to match obj on table to describing words and then write a sentence on whiteboards,
HA as above but in books challenge chn to write 2 desc words in sentence.
Plenary
Share chn sentences
Any good? any major faults? improvements... it is really important to me that the obs goes well.
Sorry for the lenghty post and thanks for you help.

Don't know if it's any help firecrest but the last time I was observed they mentioned involving homework/home learning etc in the lesson To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. so maybe you could set some homework this week about adjectives to lead into it.

Hi,
all sounds good but a To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. of things to think about
Have they said they want it stand alone and not linked to anything else you are doing? It's always harder if you are throwing in new stuff? What about linking it to topic or text?
Also as it is performance management obs - what are your targets - that's what they should be observing you on and that's what you need to be thinking about tackling. Also what are the whole school development areas at the moment? PM obs aren't there to obs and assess you on everything, just your specific target which should be agreed before you start. (see NUT guidance on this) It's not like other observations.
Remember adjectives aren't what you do!! That's verbs, adjective describes look, feel, touch etc. I found I really had to keep stressing that with my yr1' s when we did adjectives with senses work a To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. of weeks ago. But I like the PSHCE link.
Maybe in act. 2 have something for them to focus on, an object or a picture, otherwise it might be a bit too wide for them to think about.
Don't put too much in, it does sound like you are going to be having to think of and prepare alot. If this is normal for a lesson then ok, but don't do anything more than you usually do. I totally stressed out in my observation a To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. of weeks ago and didn't do everything I planned because of it. Are your children used to talk partners and moving around. Otherwise you might have a class management issue to deal with! (saying that mine are great with talk partners - better than some yr2's i've had!)
Also - do you have to do discrete phonics within the session?
Hope this helps and i'm not sounding too much like an LEA advisor!

Hi Ski - no I am grateful for your advice, (I do know what adjectives are I was going to ask that to get them thinking so they would maybe come up with the answer - but that may confuse them). I didn't want you to think that I didn't know that To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. . Thinking about it they have never done talking partners before. So thanks your right - i can see issues with that. The reason I was doing a stand alone lesson is because we were going to be testing on other days and yes I should be doing phonics too.
The head said that we would agree targets after obs (I am doing supply there but if I can get this right it will be considered when I apply for the f/t job).
You have given me a lot to think about and that is what I was wanting, I would rather sound it out here than on the day. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. Thanks I will revise it.

I was only saying about the adjectives because I mixed it up during one observation during my NQT year! But it is hard for yr1's to understand.
Ok, I understand a bit more about your situation, the pressure to impress. But i'm still not sure they should be agreeing your targets after the obs? General obs are always so much harder than targeted ones.
And I can see your point about it beign stand alone. But maybe link your objects into other things you are doing? And the phonics doesn't have to be much. Little and often is best! And you don't have to make a song and dance about phonics - children often just like chanting out to the flashcards and doing the actions!
Good luck

I could focus it on Harvest as it is our harvest festival in the afternoon. They are quite good at full circle and our words are ones ending in ut.
we could have fruit to taste, touch and smell etc. each group could choose an fruit from their table and describe it for the others to guess. Top group could write there sentences down on whiteboards/paper.
erm will give it some further thought.
Going to cook my tea now. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
