crap day, then I stupily went food shopping!
Well do I need to say anymore!
Today was a crap day. Started at 4am when I half woke up with my back in spasms, barely able to move, just about managed to stretch it out enough without fully waking up! Luckily at getting up time it was better, not totally but enough to contemplate teaching.
But today's class took me back to my last permanent class - mostly lovely, but a few 'characters' that totally spoil it for the rest of us / them. To the point of me feeling like I was losing it and tghe children getting frustrated (yr1 this is!) If I hadn't been in pain / more awake I might have been able to deal with them better, supply has given me more behaviour management skills than 2 years permanent contract did! But I wasn't, so didn't, but i (am I To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. But then I stupidly went food shopping and spent a horrendous amount. I was pleasantly surpirsed that I did actually manage to get enough food to get through the week including lunches and just treats to get through tonight! But just managed to fill up the t To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. Anyway, hopefully tomorrow will be better, and I will steer clear of the shops!
At least tonight I now have treats, a magazine and Grand Designs to watch!

It's an important point, well, two really... teach when you're not feeling 100%, and the kids are worse, and you don't do as well, but I think it does make you more determined to go back and show the buggers, but the other point, you learn more about classroom/behaviour management from a month even on supply, than two years in a classroom! I think all teachers who have been in the classroom over 4 years straight should be forced to do supply for a term before being allowed to carry on!
It'd make our life easier too... those that leave 4 x A4 pages of notes on how to teach ball skills, and those who leave post-it notes on worksheets, may think twice before starting To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Sorry.. .hijacked the thread with a soapbox moment!
Enjoy Grand Designs... almost wish I had a TV, didn't know that was still on! Think we'll enter our house for the next series!

Could not agree more nutty..., i was behaviour management in partic. rough school for 8 years and feel i have developed more in the 2 years supply than anytime before, also sick and tired of being told how to teach by a person who is young enough to have been taught by me in the first place!!
And to add to this thread i once bought a car after a bad days teaching!!!! very silly but To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. OMG A car???? If I've had a bad day, I struggle to choose something in Tesco's for that night's meal - unless 'kid a la king' is on offer!

and I've just noticed how crap my spelling was earlier
it obviously should say stupidly!!
A very good 'serious' point about behaviour management as a supply, it's hard enough if you don't know the class, without feeling crap to start with. I also had lots of stuff running around my head from the early years conference i was at yesterday - which at first did make me think about the little s^&* differently, but then I just couldn't To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. So, now i'm off to watch the rest of grand designs in bed (and this project today is even more silly than 100 shop experiecnes after a bad day!!)

well a lovely day today, and a bit unexpected - it was my least favourite class at my regular school and they were the best they've ever been, I did deliberately lay it on a bit first thing, about how I wanted it to be a fantastic day, but after that I didn't really have to do much more, they were just great!! So restored my faith and my smile.
So hopefully I will end off the week well, it's my favourite class so fingerse crossed!
Grand designs was good, I only presumed they would manage it because it was the first of the series. What a challenge, but what amazing people - the owners and the builders! Don't think i'd have taken that on!
Hotel Babylon tonight - totally different genre but i'm hooked on that too!
