what is expected of me when I get there! Has anyone had any experience in such a field and can give me advice? I know that there are 4 children in the Junior group but I'll also have to teach one-to-one with two children in the Infants (one of them can't lip read or read/write!). There is a signing lady who will lead the Junior group of children apparently and a carer who stays with one of the Infants. Help!

You will be fine, just remember not to exaggerate your lip patterns as it will make it difficult to read, and make sure you are not standing infront of light as again that makes lip reading difficult.

ion, you will soon pick up the signs they use, or if they are none, try creating flashcards (if u have the time!!) with both a picture of the object on and the name. This helps a lot! I did this with basic signs when I worked in a Deaf care home for a man who didn't have any means of communi

your local college should run one - you need to make sure it is a cacdp course as that is the offical british sign language course (lots of different varitions!)

ion centre/college which does night school too.. your council should have a prospectus... I believe all AE centres do it as it attracts funding(?)

I only did a term but have used it twice in 'real life' already (in pubs, have used it more in school, taught the kids some too!), a fab string to add to your bow [smilie=occhialuto.gif] also a great way to meet more people!

I agree, it is great to use in pubs/clubs etc. Luckily hubbie can sign too, so that makes life easier!
