Make the most of it! I'm about 12 hours late, but I'd have either: a)

ed the 'net, catching up on those emails you never sent yet to friends around the country, or b) gone to see the head and explained the situation... if you 'own up' and offer to do something, they'll like you and not give you that class again, if you don't own up, you'll keep feeling guilty, and they'll either not notice (90% chance) or think you're a slacker (10% chance!)

Well, I've decided to be more proactive today and have taken it upon myself to manage what I do today!

So, I went over to the Infants this morning and supported a group (including the deaf boy) whilst we went for a walk to the local park. It was freezing but we had a play and discussed what we saw. Got lots of vocabulary learnt too!!!!!

I had about 15 mins to listen to Year 3/4 readers even though I didn't have to and then after break I am taking one of the hearing impaired girls out for some one to one. She has virtually no speech and I can't sign but it will be good experience for us both!

This afternoon I have arranged to go back to the infants to support the boy and then who knows. I have about 45 mins to spare which is better than yesterday I suppose! I'm so used to doing something all the time that it's weird when I'm not!

Will let you know how the rest of the day goes!

It was so much better today. I'm glad that I arranged to do what I was doing myself though as no-one was telling me! I bumped into the head teacher and she was really nice. We spoke about my

Well, it's my last day in the UHIC and I can't really say that I've worked with a lot of hearing impaired children this week! This morning, I was meant to be with the boy in the infants but as soon as I got there, a lady came to take him to the juniors! I ended up working with a less able group in the class anyway (the TA could have done that!). I came back over to the unit to find 3 adults in with the 5 children in the Juniors unit so I was only needed to listen to readers and do spelling tests! Still, I suppose I was helping thm out. Feel a bit over qualified for it though! This afternoon I've arranged to go back to the Infants for an hour (I only hope the boy is there) and then I've got an hour to kill in the Juniors to try and make myself look busy! More listening to readers methinks! Just feel guilty being paid as a supply teacher when a TA could be doing this!

Make the most of it I say! It's happening too often the other way round - and we're skint!
