Hi,

2 books I can recommend for self learning sign language are: 'signs make sense' by Cathy Smith (?) and another of hers which has escaped my memory at the mo.

Try loo

on the RNID and CACDP websites, they may have links on there to other places for learning BSL or websites to go to.

Will look for those books (will send hubbie up to the loft again!) at the weekend if you want the exact author/title.

If I can be anymore help feel free to pm me or leave me a message on here and I will try my best to help!

Well, I was all set this morning to teach the hearing impaired children. Got in really early and the teacher had left basic plans and resources for the week so I set up some resources and was really loo

of the juniors. Got to half nine (kids in at 8:55) and head comes in with a sheepish look saying "you're going to hate me but....". In the end I had to leave the unit and teach my old class that I had hated previously and left the school because!!!!!! As a result I had an absolutely appauling day and my confidence teaching has really been knocked. Feel like such a cr*p teacher.

Oh no!!!!!!!!!! It's a real hug-needy day today isn't it?! [smilie=grouphug.gif]

You are not a crap teacher. You said it yourself 'head comes in with a sheepish look saying you're going to hate me but' ... it's a crap class!!!

If the head weren't ashamed of the class, if they'd done something about it, then they would have just waltzed up to you matter-of-factly and said you were somewhere else.

The school I work in has one class which defeats me week after week. They do it to any teacher but their own. They're just like that. I take them an afternoon a week, and I hate it. It's hell, and they don't really learn. But, thanks to me being there so long now, (and mainly to some of the children being sent to a different school now!) we're getting there.

Are you in there the rest of the week then?! It's the head that's crap too. They've had three on here helping you prepare for this week too! They shouldn't mess you about like that as you've 'known' for a long time where you've been going this week.

Go get chocolate now - that's an order!

I've calmed down and feel much better now thank you. She's a great head and really looked after me today (i.e. popping in now and then to see how I was going). Every time she came in the room fell silent and as soon as she left, they all

I feel so guilty today. Am in the hearing impaired unit and have virtually nothing to do this afternoon! This morning I worked with a boy in the infants for an hour and spent the rest of the morning doing a Science Test with one of the Junior boys. I have spoken to the lady who runs the unit whilst the teacher is away and she said just listen to readers in other classes! I'm not complaining but if the school finds out they'll probably make me teach another class!!!! The hearing impaired children go to intergrate with the other children in the afternoon and they have their own helper there. What shall I do?
