Deaf Club Tomorrow Night! Scary!
Hey guys!
OH is at a stag do tomorrow night so I thought I'd pop along to the local Deaf Club to brush up on my BSL. There are two others going from my BSL Level 2 group and they know each other really well and have been going for ages so will know people there already. I don't know the two ladies that well but I said I'd pop in (might just do one drink and then come home if it's bad). I find it fairly easy to talk to new people once I get over my initial shyness but to do it in another language (bearing in mind BSL users also have a different culture to me!) - it's going to be tough! What if no-ne talks to me and I'm sitting there all on my todd?????

Just try not to be shy and start talking to people. You've all got a common interest- thats why you're going to the club, so just start with that and introduce yourself and get chatting about why you're there, and why they're going etc... I always worry about this sort of stuff, haha, but once you're there its always fine

Wow! How brave to make that first step and go anyway! I daren't walk into our local sometimes without OH, even if I'm meeting someone in there!
Went to a few dance classes alone (ceroc/salsa type things), OH won't dance, and it was just funny really... asked the oldest people in the room if I could sit with them - might be ageist but always find the older the kinder! and they sat telling me all the gossip, asking about myself, and other than that, it was just funny with all these blokes who just go to pick someone up pretending not to hit on you, but just wanting a dance instead!

You've got to be on top form to do something like that... if only to make sure you go back again! If you're cream crackered, and you go, you'll not enjoy it, and not go back! You're doing the right thing... enjoy your movies! Horror are they?

Horror... naturally! I'm in my dressing gown, snuggled up on the couch with a tall vodka and lemonade and a bowl of popcorn. Just dropped OH off at his friend's stag do! Might have to start organising my hen do!

trying to snuggle up with me on a broken couch, but quite enjoying it as the house is more or less open to the elements still and putting the heating on has little effect on anything except the ozone layer and our bank balance!
