Key findings include:
Many causes of violence but the deepest roots lie in the family
Pathways to crime often laid down by 2 or 3
Creates aggressive personalities for life
No other childhood factor predicts more of the variation in adult antisocial behaviour than early aggression
The earlier aggression is established, the worse the long-term outcome tends to be
The prime time when humans develop propensity to violence is aged 0-3 years
After age 3, the habit of being violent becomes increasingly difficult to shift. Three quarters of aggressive 2 year-olds are still aggressive at age 5, and thereafter it becomes an even more stable character trait. Serious anti-social behaviour is highly resistant to change in school age children
I could write lots more, but take a look at the report. Possibly nothing you don't already know but I though it was interseting, though shocking. In particular, look at WAVE Reports and then Nursery Crimes and Ending Violence begins with Babies.
