Default Uuuugh head lice

Well I was in FS yesterday, covering FS 1 and the at the end of the day the FS2 teacher related how she had seen a louse crawl onto the table from a child's hair and had to squish it. Nice! Turns out said child's sister was the one who needed to sit on my knee in the hall during the music performance yesterday afternoon.

Out with the tea tree and repellant spray it is then!

YUCK!!!!!

Yuk don't you just hate them, the number of times I've been around infested heads and returned home scratching and begged OH to check my head for them. Just the thought of them makes me start scratching, hope you are clear though but tea tree is excellent stuff isn't it (scratching now).

Fingers crossed it was just a precautionary measure. I have had them once or twice - the odd stray louse, no major infestation - and the itching drives you

It's beyond me that some parents don't seem to care enough to do anything about it! I mean it must be fairly obvious a child has nits if the teacher can spot it in a class of 30 odd!!

ergh... used to hate that about teaching! I was told a handy little trick that worked - always use conditioner when washing your hair as they cant get hold of your hair! And as an added bonus your hair always looks great!!!

Yes I've heard that as they cannot cling on, also hairspray apparently. I remember working with a downs girl at SEN school years ago and her hair was constantly full of them, mum never ever treated it. One day one of the teacher's phoned the mother to collect her, but it still never addressed it. Even when working with adults with learning difficulties is much the same, one particular adult used to have loads of red hair full of them (yuck), had her hair cut in the end. They didn't have a choice as she was always wanting to hug everyone and when she
