Default Information on arrival.

I'm sure GreatGrandad and Melanie42 won't mind me saying, but the one thing they would change to make the world a better place would be the increased availability of information for supply teachers on arrival at a new school, or even prior, by way of the school's website.

It's often difficult to remember to look where the nearest fire exit is, for every room you'll be in that day; it's difficult enough to find out what time school finishes sometimes!

What are your experiences of whole school information left for you as opposed to notes for the day from the class teacher?

old thread, but bumping it up!!

I find it REALLY varies from school to school- 1 school I go into sometimes has a pack for each class with basic outline of the day with times etc & a bit about what the school expects from supply teacher. others will outline the times of lessons etc in notes left, and some you have to prise the information out of anybody you can! (I've often found myself askin a sensible kid what time assembly/break/lunch is because no-one's thought to tell me!!) as wonderful as us supply teachers are, we are sadly not mind readers! (a skill I think would definitely come in handy!!) last year I started to write down the general timings of the school day in any school I went into in a notebook to save me having to find out what they were if I went in again. (especially as some scholls will assume you've remembered from when you were last in x amount of weeks ago. which would be ok if you hadn't been in 4 other schools in the meantime, all with different timings!)

I have to admit to feeling the same frustrations when doing supply as you say it varies from school to school.

The school that I'm doing my NQT in has asked all teacher's to set up a welcome pack for their class which generally provides info about chn, school and routines etc. I have to admit to the benefits of such a pack after doing suppy for 15 months
