Default Broad-based returner!

Hi everyone

New on here - and feel like I'm new to teaching, the length of time I've been out! Broad-based because - apart from my love of chocolate leading to a broad bottom! - I started in secondary teaching Business Studies before maternity leave 8 years ago, then eventually returned (via a HE job) to primary (PPA, music and RE mostly) and then, via 4 years out in the exciting world of children's play, am back to anywhere that will have me! So far have done about 6 or 7 days in a secondary girls' school 'teaching' English and German (really babysitting - fabulous school for discipline in the main!) and a few days in one particular primary school - all over the age range.

I took my CV round to about 15 schools and spoke to the Heads where I could. Any comments about how many schools people are registered with, and whether you have all gone direct or go through agencies? I'm on point 3 of the scale (so pretty cheap!) - any

s about how much agencies pay and whether they're worthwhile? I'd have to travel for about an hour to register with our nearest one so need to know it's worth it, what with fuel prices!

Any help, advice or comments gratefully received!

Welcome to the broad-bottomed club CC! (Love it!)

I'm out spending time with my son at the moment, but never needed to register with an agency, no matter how local it was! I'm post-threshold so relatively expensive, but found I got all the work I wanted. Unless you need to, I'd not go with an agency, sounds like you've got quite a bit of work already? If you've been asked back more than once to those two schools, I'd say you were in!! In my experience, you need to be friendly with 3 schools to work around 4 days a week... that was 3 primary, 2 form entry schools...
