Default Thinking about it

Hi all. I am currently working part-time, 2 days a week. I have been at my school for almost 8 years and have had 2 children in this time. I recently went back to the same class. The staff are really low at the moment and I am not feeling very motivated.

vantages of doing this.

Advantages -
  • no paperwork
  • no staff meetings
  • you can have a day off when you like
  • new experiences and new schools = lots of new

    s
  • generally more freedom!

vantages -
  • no job security
  • early morning calls (urgh!)
  • work could be sporadic - tends to be quieter at beginning and end of term
  • if you go through an agency, you have to pay them commission (working direct with a few schools is much more preferable)
  • may have a longer journey
Could you stay where you are and do an extra day or 2 supply (at the same school or at a neighbouring school?)

Can I add this

Advantage - you don't have to go back to a class/school if you don't want to/don't like it. Ooooh and no team meetings/after school clubs etc.

vantage - you don't get to build working relationships with people and often feel a bit outcast at schools who can sometimes be a bit unfriendly. And behaviour management can be difficult

More additions

Advantages
  • no reports
  • no display
  • no parents evenings
  • no subject leadership
  • no IEPs, IBPs etc
Disadvantages
  • behaviour management can be more difficult
  • you don't know you way around, where resources are, you may not be able to use IWB, not familiar with times
  • some schools are not supportive or friendly
  • you don't have the lovely rapport that (once in a blue moon) happens with a class and get the satisfaction of seeing how much progress they make.

That's actually something I really miss - I loved the creativity of covering a huge wall with an interactive display. In fact, I even persuaded a local playgroup to let me do a
