Hi

I never used to take children outside for lessons except for PE unless I was quite comfortable with the children. Other times I have taken children out it's been for art, doing some drawing or rubbings etc. Either that or if I've been in with the little ones and they were having outside time (but I very rarely did supply in nursery or reception). How little??? I try to take them out as much as I can, except like Danfur says, you really want to fele comfortable with the class.. esp. if they're little and you may have 'runners'.

I like to go outside for stories, singing sessions, PE, group challenges and art with KS1 or 2.

This is a useful tactic if you've had a hard day as the change of scenery can do wonders - you have to feel you can trust the class as the others have said but normally the threat of returning to the classroom is enough!
