Default What's your name, Mister?

Hello everyone.

I've called myself Mister because sometimes I have to remind some pupils I'm a Mister when, out of habit from having female teachers, they call me Miss, or Miss...ter!

I also say Mister when they ask me what my 'real' (ie first) name is!

Must say I think this site is great. Found it while looking for online resources & ideas for a day of PPA cover. Could be any age, reception to Year 6, it's a school in a tough area, I've been there twice before & used my basic repotoire of 'one off' lesson ideas, so wanted to see what, if anything, was out there.

Well nothing was out there, lesson activities-wise. But finding this site was better. The supply work was cancelled next morning anyway, just as I was about to set off, grrrr. Guess how I'm going to spend my day now!

This is a second-attempt introduction. My first one got eaten by the system! It's a bit late cos I then made a few short replies, (but getting ever longer!) to other posts. Now I'm seeing if I can start new threads like a fully-fledged member.

Must say, you seem a great bunch. And I love the idea of a place to share thoughts, feelings, woes & successes with others who really know what this mad game is all about.

Ok, hope to chat with some of you later on the boards.

Hello Mister!

Glad you are finding the site helpful!

You've started a new post and got a reply! You'll get lots more if you mention chocolate!

Hi Ruby,

Thanks for your reply. Haha, yes, I noticed chocolate was popular here!

That reminds me of the toughest secondary I ever supplied at. They must have been utterly desparate & at their wits' end with behaviour problems, I doubt they had a discipline policy in place, or at least one that was working, because I had to go to another teacher to ask for help with discipline, & much to my astonishment a few minutes later a TA came in with a tray of mini chocolate bars & actually used them to bribe the pupils to behave!!! I don't like to turn work down, but after surviving the day (ony just!) I made an exception for that place!

Believe me, you wouldn't want to! Much easier just to go to a shop & buy a 20p bar yourself!

This was one of those days where the answer to the question am I mad to be doing this was YES!

Fortunately days like that are very very rare, I wouldn't be in this job long if they were all like that!

Hello, & thanks.

Please can someone tell me how many posts you have to make to move up to the different post count catagories?
I see I've moved from a nursery noodle to a reception rascle after 30 posts.
How long before a member becomes a junior joy, a secondary grunter or a graduate in conversing?
Thankyou.

I can't remember what I set them at... no prize-giving day though if you graduate!
