Default Just wanted to say hello to u all!

Hello all,
I am a newbie to this site and a newbie to supply teaching! I have been a primary teacher for 13 years in England, but a few months ago we moved up to Scotland. I can't get full registration here yet so I have to do probationary days before the Scottish GTC will give me full registration. Which is why I am now on the supply list. I am a natural born worrier, and I am dreaming up every terrible scenario that could occur!

LOL Sounds like me in my more fragile times (half the month!) Welcome to the forum, and isn't it disgraceful that they won't take you without probation after 13 years teaching?! How many days do you have to do?

Wow, that's a lot of probationary days!! Does your experience in the UK count for nothing then? I'm sure some PGCEs don't last that long!

Ok, tackle the thoughts that come into your head as they arrive... Y6 won't work? Send for the headteacher to b*ll*ck them. To put it bluntly. You're not alone in the school! Done!

Eat more chocolate, but not last thing at night...

The probationary is so long because when I did my teaching degree, after the first year you then had to specialise in either KS1 or KS2. I specialised in KS2. Scotland don't recognise this degree, so the 135 days is to teach just early years/ KS1, and supply days with KS2 don't count towards it. It is going to take me forever! I like the theme of chocolate here by the way : )

Hello Little Witchy, welcome to the forum...

What a shame you had to leave under such circumstances... but all too often happening it seems!!

Good luck with the applications, how's supply treating you so far?
