Default Hi everyone i'm a newbie!

Hello there - i just discovered this lovely place yesterday! Even reading just a fraction of the posts has lifted my spirits!

I'm a returner - I qualified in primary back in 1997, only ever did short term supply and then quite quickly after i'd qualified I had my daughter and basically i've been full-time mumming it since and picking up bits-and-bobs of part time work wherever I can, however I just completely lost ALL confidence to go back into the teaching arena - I had a lot of trauma around the time - personal stuff, and found myself a single mum with a tiny baby - anyway, enough of this - just a bit of background as I had some kind of divine intervention or inspiration, or just some moments of pure

ness last year and decided, actually, I could do this job, I could be good at it and actually I WANT it!!!!! So - did a return to teach course that the T.D.A. run, and some voluntary work in school and then got the confidence to register with agencies!!!!

I've only really been doing the agency thing since the summer term, and have only had odd days here and there, and just had my first assignment since July this week so I felt completely rusty AGAIN! Anyway its so lovely to find this site and to know that i'm not alone - its such a lonely situation the whole supply teaching life, and it'd be lovely to be a part of this Forum.

Bye for now, hope i didn't send you all to sleep!

P.s. Is it just me, or is it always terrifying when you get a post to a new school? It's the whole not knowing what to expect bit - cheers x

Hello and welcome! Glad youve found us.

Well done on taking the step back into teaching - as you said it is scary when going into new schools, but it does get easier!

Feel free to rant on here anytime, we all do! Look forward to chatting more xx

Hiya and welcome to the forum. I'm not doing supply at the mo but I live just across the river to you so if you get posted to any schools and I've been to them I'll give you whatever advice I can. Well done on getting back into it, it's okay and there are some absolutely lovely schools!! Which agencies are you with?

Hi Rosie's mam and welcome to the forum from me too!

Have been at work today, nightmare... every Thurs I've agreed to Reception from 8am til noon, then year 6 for the whole afternoon! Talk about differences!

Exactly why I started the forum... blo*dy lonely when you're travelling from one school to the next - it hopefully doesn't last long, unless you want it to, I now get all the work I need from just two schools, so can go on both Xmas 'do's etc., but it took a while to get here... just enjoy the money 'til you get there and there's usually someone hanging around in here for company...

Hi Rosie's Mam and everyone,
Im new to supply to and yes I panic when I receive the call to work. It just very daunting trying to know what to teach all the ages! I don't think that I have been vey good in any placement yet! (only had 4 to date). I assume feedback goes both ways with agencies and I haven't received any, so perhaps things were not so bad.

This site and forum is excellent. Being new to teaching and supply I have found loads of useful information - and it is nice to know there are people to chat to as well.

Whoops!

Default Hiya Whoops . . .

Yeah it is totally lovely to find a site which is full of people you have so much in common with!!! Being on supply you feel like a lonewolf - nice to know we can retreat back here to lick our wounds ;o) and/or celebrate the victories!!

Thanks again folks - I'm looking forward to trawling through all the posts and nabbing lots of
