Hi Nutty,

Thanks for your reply. You are right it is a secondary school, a fairly big one at that - 97 teaching staff to be exact! I had a bit of good news today, I spoke to the lady in the LEA office and she said there is no need for an interiew to get into their supply pool and I can start straight away as soon as I am needed.

Thank you for the advice, I have a

of supply agencies that have been recommended so I wil be registering with them in the next few days. I am going to pop into the school tomorrow to let them know that the LEA have given me the go ahead to work asap, the good thing is because I have worked there for the past 5 years I know people well enough to drop into school and just have a quick chat with them. I am also very hopeful that I will be getting my teaching post back for sept 2009 as the person who got my position is only there for a year. The headteacher told me he woud like me back for next year and I would like to be back so I hope they are eager to use me for supply this year until I am back in as a regular teacher.

Once again thanks for the advice, I am new to this supply business and really appreciate it!

You're welcome... if they're keen to have you back in Sept 09, they'll def. use you a lot as they'll want the continuity/stability for the kids... even if they are terrible teens!

I do admire you being able to teach secondary!

Hiya i did the same recently and have two bookings with them next week. I just put my name , that i was an NQT looking to further my experience through supply work and that i was registered with LEA and available for suppy work.

This is what i put (just found it)

To whom it may concern,
Please find attached my CV for your consideration with regards to available supply work that may arise at your school. I am registered with Swindon Borough Council. I am available for supply any day of the week.

I look forward to working with you in the near future.

Yours sincerely

Hope this helps

I didn't have to be, they just prefer it rather than having to do the admin for taking you on retrospectively and rush it through in time to pay you.

My LEA said come back in 18 months as they had too many supply teachers on the list, but it was rubbish and I was working the next day direct through school!
