The thing about drama is that a) generally you need space, and b) it is better if it is linked to the topic. There are lots of little games on primary resources that you can do, like

I would make sure you have lots of stand alone activities like design your perfect pencil class and explain why it has special compartments etc. Drawing treasure maps etc. Good book to get is Thinking outside the box by Molly somebody, lots of good

In some tough schools the kids seem to think it is weird that I would do this, but other schools seem to like Horrid Henry. They are a good length to read aloud at the end of the day. I need more stuff though and it is dodgy trying to get something quickly that you don't know yourself. Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday break despite the bad weather.

Hi Susi Q, and welcome to the forum!

I tend not to read out to the older children, though that's because I personally don't like reading... I find an invaluable resource is a book of quiz questions, play boys v. girls and be strict, give 10 points to start, and then you can take them off for shouting out/being rude etc...

s for primary age kids. Sometimes I find there are great kids and at the end of the afternoon it is nice to do something that is fun but not too messy. I am a secondary music teacher and find I can take a lot of noise but forget that messy activities need to be tidied up. When you don't know the kids it is hard to judge how long they will need to tidy up so I tend to err on the side of caution and sometimes have as much as ten minutes left to fill. I have had some great
