Please help!!
Hello Everyone
Ive got a booking for a days teaching tomorrow as a rough school Ive worked there before mainly with foundationa and ks1 although I have had a few incidents that Ive been booked for year one and ended up with year 6 in the afternoon not my specialism and when I taught them was told to f**k off by a child and there was a fight in the class which I had to break up. Said to agency I wasnt happy teaching them again. Have accepted this day as first day of work Ive had this term. Its an odd day Im covering for teachers who are doing their iep's so going to be all over the place doing one lesson here and one lesson there. Supply agency said they would speak to school and asked that I have all the ks1 classes if possible another lady in covering as well who is ks2 trained and they would ask that shes has ks2.
Im a bit concereed that I'll end up with top end ks2 any advice on how to handle it would be great as I am very nervous, feel out of my depth with the children at that school.
Sorry that this is so long winded. Hope someone read this and can help.

Poor you! I frankly wouldn't do a day like that as I prefer staying in a class for the whole day rather than flit about and not really know what I'm doing for the whole day! If I were you, I'd find out if it's in KS1 and cancel if in KS2. On the other hand, if you're flitting about then if you have a rubbish class then at least it'll only be for one session! I feel the same way about KS2 (mainly Year 5 and 6). I taught a Year 5 class yesterday in a dodgy school and regretted it afterwards as I was knackered last night from all my behaviour management - I don't think I actually got any quality teaching done!!!!!

I feel the same would rather be in one class all day but its the first day I have had so far and thats why I accepted. Feel bad saying no to the teaching agency as well. I tried to find out if it was in ks1 all day but they couldnt confirm one way or another so To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. When behaviour bads it really drains you. Any suggestion for quick lessons just in case theres no planning, Ive been told there is but you never know. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Just play games, e.g. boggle on the white board, circle time activities, maths games, etc. If they don't give you any planning then it's pretty much impossible to plan for the day yourself as you don't know where you'll be! I once taught SEVEN classes in one day (KS2 To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. I feel for you LJ! Scousesupplier had a similar day at our school recently but got lucky... as he walked into each classroom the kids were already on task, so it was just a matter of crowd control until their teacher got back. If they think you're genuinely interested in the work that they're doing, and lots of praise, they're generally fine...
If, though I doubt it will happen, you have to teach, I agree with C'belle, something quick and gamey on the IWB... hangman even, boys vs. girls (deducting points for bad behaviour, make them clear about what you mean first... calling out etc. and they'll respect you when you stick to it.)
Good luck and let us know how you get on!

Hehe! Good luck... I've only just got out of the habit of taking a Tesco's plaggy bag! I invested in a £1 'The Green Natural Bag' from them instead... fits a lovely big pile of books in without squishing them!

Thank you for all your advice.
I had the strangest day ever yesterday. Had a year one class in the afternoon which was lovely got to teach science the senses which I love doing. In the morning was a different ball game I did nothing, didnt have a class or anything. They had a bad ofstead last year so were being reviewed and they had booked me just in case someone was off sick. They based me in the rainbow room which is for any children who are difficult or need one-to-one help to go to but because ofstead where in no children were sent down so I just sat talking to the two ta's who are based there.
It was like being in a different school!!
