Don't mind at all!
These were Y5 lads, real lads... their teacher would get them to read teletext pages/maagazines/kids newspapers at night (before t'internet!) for their 20 minutes reading at home.
They're both 'classics', that the lads would never have picked up, having tatty, boring looking front covers...
I Am David - Anne Holm
The Silver Sword - Ian Serraillier
I always push these books on Y5/Y6, and they haven't failed me yet! As they are both journey-based ones, they are more difficult to put down half way through. Adventurous people, like me and the lads, who wouldn't be in the classroom or reading, given the choice, can escape into them. Great for WWII history topic links too.
The Tulip Touch - Anne Fine
Skellig - David Almond
are two more books that this very reluctant reader doesn't mind 'pushing' onto children.
Hope this helps, though I know using them is not a revolutionary To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. ! To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
